The Lap band surgery for teenagers?
im doing research for my cousin who is completely beautiful but she has the worst self esteem in the world. She is obese and has been looking in to this surgery for a while. the factor is she cant neccessary afford the surgery because her insurance doesn't cover it until she is 18, she is 16 now and cant stand her life as it is. In her family she has history of diabetes and heart disease and she is becoming extremely depressed due to her weight. she has tried weight watchers jenny craig and medi fast. she lost 30 pounds on medi fast but it stopped working after about 3 months. she also attended "weight loss camp" this summer and lost a whopping 10 pounds. she eats less then i do and exercises when necessary. the fact that she is obese isn't because she isn't trying to loose weight, its in her genes her whole family on her dads side is overweight. so i guess my question is Is it possible to bring to the attention of the insurance company that being the way she is is dangerous to her health and perhaps may they rethink paying for her surgery? is it possible?
